After a great night’s sleep, we awoke to the smell of freshly-baked croissants in the kitchen, which put us all in a great mood – especially Archie, who turned eleven today and celebrated with a cake! With every meal, the children are becoming calmer and demonstrating good table manners.
Two groups today took to the canal to hone their canoeing skills. Unfortunately, Mr Baish wasn’t very good with his rowing technique and accidentally kept splashing everyone…
A further two groups went caving and even made friends with two year six groups from across the country. One group braved the wet route and crawled through a ‘toilet’!
Our final group had a brilliant day at the beach, with activities including scrambling up rocks and abseiling down a cliff face – some children even doing it blindfolded!
Our focus for this week has been teamwork and friendship (fitting in with Millbrook’s values). We’ve seen many children rise to the challenge, encouraging others, leading them in activities, supporting them when the going gets tough and celebrating our achievements together.
One final note: we believe we’re witnessing a Welsh record; we have now had three excellent days’ weather with glorious sunshine for the majority of the time. At night, we’ve seen bats, Mars, the International Space Station and even a shooting star!
