On Wednesday 7th March, Year 5 took to Oxford Castle as part of our Highwayman topic. We went on a guided tour of the castle which included the awful living conditions criminals were put in and learned some great facts. Did you know that the youngest prisoner they had there was a girl aged just seven? She was ordered to do a week’s hard labour for stealing a pram! We also scaled Oxford Hill for a great view of the city. We’ll use the trip as a stimulus for writing a biography of the infamous Oxfordshire highwayman, Isaac Darkin.
